Application process and initial order

Some terms in this section have specialised meaning eg. ‘Approved Healthcare Professional’.  Please refer to the Definitions section within the ‘About the scheme’ section of this website for the definition of words that are capitalised, or click on the link if they are highlighted.

Step 1

Review the Eligibility Criteria

Review the National EB Dressing Scheme eligibility criteria with your Approved Healthcare Professional to determine if you might be eligible. If you need a hard copy of the eligibility criteria, please contact BrightSky.

Step 2

Obtain an Application Form from BrightSky Australia

Download an Application Form or contact BrightSky to obtain a hard copy of the Application Form.

Step 3

Complete the Application Form and obtain all necessary documents

Step 3(a) Patient or Authorised Representative completes Section 1 of the form.

Step 3(b) Organise for your Approved Healthcare Professional to complete and sign Section 2 of the Application Formand obtain required supporting documentation.
Step 3(c) Organise for your Treating Healthcare Professional to undertake an assessment and write a monthly dressing requirement on the Application Form selecting from the approved dressings list. This monthly dressing requirement will become your Standard Order.

Step 4

Send the completed Application Form and all necessary documents (including a copy of your Concession Card if appropriate) to BrightSky

Step 5

Eligibility determined

The application will be reviewed to confirm eligibility.
You will receive a letter of notification regarding your eligibility and notifying you of your patient responsibilities.

If you are not eligible, you may still purchase products through BrightSky, however these will be at your own cost. Go to “What if I am not eligible?” for more information.

Step 6

Establish your account and first month’s order

Once eligibility is confirmed, BrightSky will contact you to create your first order of approved dressings, including the payment of your Monthly Contribution (equivalent to one Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme co-payment). If you are a concession card holder you will be eligible for the concession co-payment amount. BrightSky requires a copy of your current concession card.

Step 7

First dressing order delivery

All deliveries must be received and signed for by the Approved Applicant or their Authorised Representative. Therefore please ensure you will be home at the time of delivery or provide an alternate delivery address where a signature can be obtained. Children who are minors cannot sign for deliveries.

If you are not home to receive a delivery, your order may not be received in time. Subsequent deliveries may incur additional charges.
